Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part time (6.5 PA's) Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
The department of Sports Medicine was established at Leicester General Hospital in 1993. Since that time it has been a key provider of musculoskeletal care locally and has played an important role in the development of the sports medicine on national basis. The SEM department has evolved over recent years to meet the challenges of the healthcare economy and the needs of the specialty. This post has been developed to help take forward the Trust’s vision for SEM within the NHS. It will allow the Trust to deliver current SEM activity levels, whilst accommodating changes to Consultant job plans and to improve the service offered to patients in the county.
The main duties will be the provision of secondary care Sport and Exercise Medicine services to the people of Leicestershire including a significant number of tertiary referrals. The post is suitable for individuals with comprehensive clinical experience of sport and exercise and musculoskeletal medicine. They will be on the specialist register in SEM or within 6 month of a CCT in SEM.
A keen and active role in audit, teaching and research is anticipated. This will include undergraduates and SEM trainees on the East Midlands rotation. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the on-going development of SEM in Leicester.
