Locum Consultant Cardiologist in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD)
Bristol has recently been voted the most liveable city in England and lies at the gateway to the beautiful regions of Devon, Cornwall and Wales.
This is a unique opportunity to join a highly dynamic team, rapidly expanding our services for the growing population of adult patients living with congenital heart disease. We provide a regional ACHD service for the South West of England (population 5.3 million) and further surgical and interventional services for South Wales. We moved into state of the art facilities in the Bristol Heart Institute in 2010 and are at the forefront of driving innovation in ACHD. We offer a whole range of imaging, interventional, electrophysiology and surgical services for ACHD patients and are a satellite centre for pulmonary hypertension. Our team consists of 3 full-time adult-trained ACHD cardiologists, a further 2 (of a total of 8) paediatric consultants with ACHD sessions, 3 congenital cardiac surgeons, 3 clinical nurse specialists, 3 middle grade doctors, a team co-ordinator and full admin support staff. We have a proactive Network team (clinical director, lead nurse and manager) that support our work through the South West and South Wales.
Applicants should be fully trained in adult congenital cardiology. A subspecialty interest would be welcomed. We provide a 24/7 specialist 1:5 ACHD on call rota.
Applicants should be on, or eligible for inclusion on, the Specialist Register in Cardiology and be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
The post is intended as whole-time but applications would be considered from candidates wishing to work part-time.
