Locum Consultant Paediatric Haematologist / Paediatrician with expertise in haematology
We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a motivated, keen and energetic individual to become part of the East Midlands haematology/oncology team. The East Midlands Children’s and Young Persons’ Integrated Cancer Service (EMCYPICS) provides care for all children and young people up to the age of 19 years diagnosed with a malignancy and in addition the paediatric haematology service provides local haematology care for the population of Nottinghamshire. The department provides high quality evidence based care and has a very high rate of recruitment to clinical trials. It resides within a new purpose built unit with onsite support from services including paediatric intensive care, paediatric surgery and neurosurgery.
This post is in the first instance a 4 month post for a locum consultant paediatric haematologist / paediatrician with an expertise in haematology to start the 29th October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is based at the Queens Medical Centre Campus of NUH NHS Trust. The appointee will join one paediatric haematologist and five paediatric oncologists based at Nottingham Children’s Hospital and work alongside regional colleagues in the East Midlands Children’s and Young Persons’ Integrated Cancer Service. There may well be opportunity to extend the post for a further 12 months and this will be discussed after appointment.
Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and have a licence to practice. Applicants must have or be within 6 months of receiving a CCT in paediatrics or haematology or have equivalent training / experience at the time of appointment.
The post is full time with 10 PA's in the job plan. However, consideration will be given to candidates who require flexible working arrangements. The on‑call commitment to the Paediatric Haemato‑Oncology service is 1 in 6.5 nights and weekends with prospective cover.
