3 Full-time Consultant posts in General Radiology
(All special interests would be welcomed; Neuro, Head and Neck, Paediatric, GI and Nuclear Medicine would be favourably considered)
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and friendly radiology team in an outstanding area of the country. The posts have arisen as a consequence of retirement and workload growth.
Our team ethic is to deliver high quality general, specialist and interventional services across a large county.
Experience in general radiology; general cross-sectional imaging and acute radiology are essential. Interests in IR, Neuro, Paediatrics and ENT imaging would be of particular value however we would be very flexible if candidates have other interests. There is a new paediatric wing at Gloucestershire Royal hospital that provides integrated care for the whole county and we work closely with our paediatric colleagues. ENT and neurology services are also based at the same site and both have excellent reputations in the region with ENT providing a specialist regional service for tumour resection.
Radiology supports one-stop ENT neck lump clinics with cytology support and there are opportunities to participate in research in radiotherapy planning for head and neck cancer IMRT cases. Opportunities for PETCT are also available.
We work closely with other departments to provide urology, vascular, GI, biopsy, drainage and general interventional support. We are looking to expand the range of interventional services provided.
There are up to 4 specialist registrars from the South-West deanery at one time, we have a highly regarded radiology module for Bristol medical students and the Trust is the second largest provider of medical education and training in the South West of the England. You will be invited to contribute to local teaching and training.
We already run a seven day diagnostic radiology service and outsource overnight on call.
Home workstations and reporting are to be trialled imminently with a view to giving all consultants the option. The job plans include 10PAs (1.5 core SPA), this can be extended to 11.25PA by arrangement.
Post holders may be expected to align their place of work on the Cheltenham and Gloucester site to the prevailing service demands.
