Field Epidemiology Training Programme Director
Consultant (medically qualified) or AfC 8d for non-medical consultants
Permanent 10 Programmed Activities or 40 hours per week
Locations: London, London – time split between PHE Colindale and Wellington House (Waterloo)

The Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP), located within PHE’s Global Public Health division, is aimed at staff who are, or will be, working in a post involving field investigation and epidemiology and who want to further enhance their specialist skills. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/field-epidemiology-trainingprogramme-fetp.

We are recruiting a Field Epidemiology Training Programme Director to be based in London, dividing their time between the FETP Office in Colindale and Global Public Health team in PHE Headquarters at Waterloo. The post comprises two main remits: the development of UK epidemiology capability and strengthening global health security through epidemiology capacity building internationally.

The post holder will lead the continuing development and management of this high-profile programme. The candidate should have a strong interest and experience in teaching, training and professional development. Experience of communicable and non-communicable disease epidemiology, and the surveillance and control function in the UK is essential. Applicants should be prepared to travel, and spend periods overseas for meetings or training modules.

Applicants should have full GMC or UKPHR registration and be included in a relevant specialist register. The post holder will be accountable to the PHE executive via the Director of Global Public Health.

The FETP is currently undergoing an independent external evaluation, the result of which may lead to a review of the remit and scope of the training programme, and the responsibilities of this role, within the organisation.

For more information about the post contact Dr. Neil Squires, Director Global Public Health. Neil.squires@phe.gov.uk
