Applications are invited for two highly motivated professionals to join the Consultant team at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff. One post is full-time whilst the other is part-time, working 9 sessions per week.
The appointees will join the current Paediatric Haematology & Oncology Consultants in providing a 1 in 5 rota for both ward service and on-call. Depending on the expertise and interests of the candidates, there will be opportunities to lead on various aspects of Paediatric Oncology including neuro-oncology, shared care, late effects, ECMC development, and Palliative Care (in paediatric oncology).
Children’s acute services within the Health Board are currently provided on two sites in Cardiff – University Hospital of Wales (UHW) and University Hospital Llandough (outpatient facilities only) with Community Paediatrics based at St David’s Hospital and Llandough. Paediatric oncology, neurosurgery, and paediatric surgery are based at UHW and are the regional referral centres for South and Mid Wales. Phase 2 of the Children’s Hospital for Wales is located on the UHW site and provides paediatric surgical theatres, in-patient and outpatient accommodation, and critical care facilities.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
