As part of an expansion and development to the Respiratory Service the Trust is looking to recruit 3 new Consultants. These new substantive posts present an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic growing department practicing from a newly built, state of the art 480 bed hospital. You will join the existing 6 Consultants providing respiratory care to our population of 400,000.
The Respiratory department is an integral department within the Division of Unscheduled Care. Respiratory physicians at the Great Western Hospital form part of the acute on call rota admitting acutely unwell general medical patients through our Emergency Department and Acute Assessment Unit. In-patient care is provided on a 35 bedded Respiratory and General Medical ward. Outpatient services are mostly delivered on the main site with one peripheral clinic in Fairford to the north of Swindon. In addition the Department also have a Sleep Service, Lung Cancer Service, Plural Service, Bronchoscopy & EBUS service providing 2 lists per week, a Lung Function Service and CTD ILD monthly clinic.
Post holders will have an opportunity to undertake 2 PAs per week in the Acute Medicine Unit and will participate in the medical on call rota. The Acute Medicine Department is made up of Linnet Ward which is a 33 bedded Unit, Ambulatory Care Unit, and a 12 bedded short stay ward. The post holder will be expected to work across all three areas one day per week.
Successful applicants should hold MRCP (UK) or equivalent and should be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, or currently hold CCT.
The Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is located in Swindon, the Hospital has excellent travel links, located 5 minutes by car to junction 15 of the M4. The town is on the main rail link between Bristol and London, with travel time to London Paddington within one hour. There is also easy access to surrounding villages within the Cotswolds.
