Consultant in Radiology – 4 posts
University Hospitals Ayr and Crosshouse
NHS Ayrshire & Arran is making a significant investment in radiological services as part of a programme of improvement supporting the redesign of 'front door' emergency services and delivery of the 18 weeks referral to treatment standard. The aim is to enhance local service infrastructure to deliver timely and integrated radiological support to clinical teams.
Four Consultant radiologist posts are offered at either University Hospital Crosshouse or University Hospital Ayr with an option of cross-site working. A Specialist Interest(s) which complements the existing department (Musculoskeletal Radiology, Breast Radiology, Vascular and Non-Vascular Intervention, Chest, Head and Neck, Urology, Nuclear Medicine, GI and Oncology) will be welcome.
Both hospitals are well equipped each having a 1.5T MR scanner, 64 or 128 slice CT, Ultrasound, Digital Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Medicine and Mammography, and utilise the national PACS system along with the RIS Web radiology ordering system. A programme of IT development is underway to implement a new Patient Management System which will further integrate the radiology system with other elements of the hospital system.
Teleradiology is available for on-call CT. The directorate has been proactive in reviewing skill mix and developing extended radiographer roles.
You will join the existing complement of 19 Radiologists in Ayrshire. At present each hospital operates its own on-call rota. The delivery of the on-call service is currently under review. There is a well established outsourcing overnight on-call to a nighthawk service.
