Salary: £70,206 - £103,490 per annum

The Field Service is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Epidemiologist from either a scientific or medical background to be responsible for the management and leadership of the Real-time Syndromic Surveillance team.
The Consultant Epidemiologist will be skilled in the application of epidemiological and surveillance methods to health protection issues, including the provision of syndromic surveillance support to major outbreaks and incidents. They will be able to lead the development and operation of national, regional and local syndromic surveillance systems particularly for infectious diseases and provide expert epidemiological advice to stakeholders. They will work independently and under pressure against short deadlines when required.
The successful candidate will be competent to develop, direct and collaborate on research projects and programmes in public health. They will also have strong leadership skills, experience of teaching and supervising students and trainees in surveillance and intervention epidemiology.
The candidate must be included on the GMC Specialist Register or UK Public Health Register.
The successful candidate will be appointed to the Consultant salary scale appropriate to their years of seniority or if from a background other than medicine to NHS Agenda for Change Band 8d.
