Applications are invited for the appointment of a Consultant Ophthalmologist to join a team of 12 consultants, two associate specialists, four Trust grade doctors and six trainees. The candidate must be able to perform high volume cataract surgery.
The outpatient department is equipped with Zeiss Imaging with networked software, 2 OCT scanners, Argon, Yag, cyclodiode, SLT lasers and imminently a multispot laser. There is a separate eye emergency department (run as an Acute Referral Clinic), an orthoptic department with children’s waiting room, clean room for intravitreal injection,and a minor operations room for local anaesthesia. There is also a daycase, 3-bedded paediatric and 16-bedded inpatient ward and a surgical unit with three dedicated eye theatres equipped with state of the art Alcon phacoemulsification machines.
Applicants should have full GMC registration and be either on or eligible for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Ophthalmology. This is a full-time post; 10 PAs + 1 PA.
