We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague with an interest in Palliative Medicine to join our well established specialist multidisciplinary team at the Ayrshire Hospice.
You will join our friendly and forward thinking medical team of 4 consultants, GPST2, Specialty trainee in Palliative Medicine, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and GP with a specialist interest in Palliative Care.
The Hospice has 20 in-patient beds, SOLAS (day services) for 16 patients, and a large team of community clinical nurse specialists who support patients in their own homes. Both University Hospitals in Ayrshire have a palliative care team with medical support from the Hospice.
The Hospice actively engages in Clinical Governance and Practice development, undergraduate and post graduate education and quality improvement. We have an established specialty specific medical team education programme, CPD is supported and encouraged and medical appraisal and revalidation is provided by NHS Ayrshire and Arran Appraisal and Revalidation Team. Applicants with an interest in education and teaching are encouraged.
An interest in palliative care is required, previous experience in palliative medicine and a post graduate medical qualification is desirable but not essential as a professional development plan will be prepared for the successful candidate. The post is based on 10 PA, 9 DCC and 1 SPA sessions. A 4% on call supplement is paid. (1 in 6, residence within 30 mins travel time from Ayrshire Hospice when on call)
