We are looking for highly trained Intensive Care Consultants to join our team of 16 in Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. Consultants with single CCT (or equivalent) and joint CCT in Anaesthesia can be accommodated. We may also be able to accommodate applicants with other joint specialty CCT (combined with ICM). This post comes with a financially attractive recruitment package worth up to £50,000. The package includes removal expenses up to £20,000 and a starting salary of point 4 of the pay scale. More detailed information is available upon request. Due to the rotational nature of the contract you will enjoy up to 10-11 weeks leave each year. Study and professional leave is in addition to this and we allow a study leave budget of £1000/yr.

Consultants in Intensive Care Medicine cover 3 separate units in two Hospitals, Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, which have a total of 32 critical care beds. Between them they have approximately 2000 admissions per year in all major adult specialties including major trauma, cancer, vascular and neurosurgery. The Anaesthetic department covers the same two hospitals. There are 65 consultants within the department who provide in excess of 30,000 anaesthetics per year to a vast range of surgical specialties and many other clinical areas.

Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a University Teaching Hospital with 1293 beds and an annual budget of £500 million. The Trust supports a variety of tertiary services and is both a Major Cancer Centre and Major Trauma Centre.

To succeed you must be a registered practitioner who possesses FRCA (or equivalent as in either on the specialist register (or eligible to be registered within 6 months). You must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all anaesthetic techniques and have completed advance intensive care training. You should also be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and work within a team.
