Applications are invited for a full time (10 Programmed Activities per week) Consultant in Cardiology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. Involvement in General Internal Medicine would be optional. A sub-specialty interest in Imaging would be an advantage but all sub-specialty interests can be considered.

The proposed job plan will consist of 8 DCC PAs and 2 SPAs. For candidates wishing to work less than full time an appropriate job plan can be negotiated.

The appointees will be expected to contribute to the education program for Junior Hospital Doctors and take an active role in the Trust’s Clinical Governance Strategy. He/she will also be expected to take part in clinical audit. There are also opportunities for engagement in the training of junior medical staff, medical students and other groups of health professionals.

There are a number of established departmental teaching programs with contributions from all medical specialties.

Candidates must hold the MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification and have CCT Cardiology or be in an approved training program within 6 months of expected CCT date at time of interview.
