These are new posts to meet the demands of an exciting, expanding imaging service.
These posts are initially based at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Wirral. From 2020 Imaging will be based in both Liverpool and the Wirral.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is one of the largest networked cancer centres in the UK providing specialist cancer care to a population of 2.3m in Merseyside, Cheshire, the North West and the Isle of Man.
We combine high quality clinical services, research and academic excellence to develop innovative drugs and therapies, whilst providing the very highest quality, specialist care for patients.
Our main site is currently on the Clatterbridge health park in Wirral. We are building a new world-class, 11-floor Specialist Cancer Centre in the heart of Liverpool opening in 2020. All patients will have their own room with en-suite facilities. The new cancer hospital will provide highly-specialised cancer care for patients with haematological malignancies and solid tumours. A new IR service is being established for the new cancer centre to provide excellent access for patients to a range of oncology IR examinations and treatments, there is an exciting opportunity available to lead this development
These posts are a great opportunity to join an exciting team of specialists in a brand new cancer centre contiguous with the New Royal Liverpool University Hospital (RLUH). Many consultant radiologists already work jointly at CCC Wirral and at the RLUH. The advertised posts potentially allow for similar joint job plans with sessions in both hospitals.
Although the Liverpool hospital will become our main base, we will continue to provide Imaging services at our current site in Wirral and at our satellite radiotherapy unit on the Aintree Hospital site in Liverpool.
We are a tertiary cancer centre and provide non-surgical cancer care for solid tumours and haematological malignancies. Imaging will play a key part in the future services and we are building our Radiology team in readiness for expansion of the service.
Merseyside and the Wirral are a wonderful area to live and work. Bebington, Wirral was recently voted the most desirable place to live and work in England (The Telegraph, 1st March, 2017). The Wirral is a semi-rural area with easy access to the city attractions of Liverpool and Chester as well as out-door pursuits in North Wales. There are excellent schools including private and grammar schools. The Open Championship, PGA Golf tour has been hosted at the Royal Liverpool Golf club in Hoylake, Wirral.
