Consultant in Clinical Oncology
Castle Hill Hospital
Full Time (Minimum 10 PA’s)
Consultant Clinical Oncologist with responsibility for GI Oncology and Lung cancers.
This is a replacement post providing services at the cancer centre located at Castle Hill Hospital, peripheral cancer units at Scarborough Hospital.
It will involve treating patients with Upper (Stomach / Oesophagus) and Lower Gastrointestinal (Rectal) tract and Lung cancer at Scarborough General Hospital. The Lung Oncology service will be provided mainly at Scarborough Hospital and GI Oncology at both CHH and Scarborough (along with 2 other Clinical Oncologist and 1 medical Oncologist).
Clinics at Castle Hill, and Scarborough are supported by experienced middle-grade doctors or SpR’s.
The approximate numbers of patients for each site are based on data from 2015-16 and are as follows: Lung at Scarborough (Radiotherapy at Castle Hill): 70. GI-Oncology @ Scarborough: 80. GI-Oncology @ Castle Hill: 75. Total: 225 per annum.
The post will have a mentor from a non-oncology speciality for continued support in the initial years.
