Consultant Acute Geriatricians x2
3 days left
- Full Time
Here at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust we are expanding our substantive Consultant workforce in front door frailty services in order to meet the needs of our local population. We have worked closely with the Acute Frailty Network and have rapidly reconfigured acute frailty services gaining national and international recognition for our work.
For those patients with markers of frailty presenting as emergencies, we recognise we need to reconfigure our services to provide consistent geriatrician led MDT input at the earliest possible stage and throughout the admission.
In the last four years we have developed an Emergency Department in-reach team, an Acute Frailty Team in the Emergency floor, a 16 bedded Older Peoples’ Short stay Unit (OPSS), a daily Rapid Access Clinic for Older People (RACOP), a 60 bedded Older Peoples’ Unit, an inpatient Older Peoples’ Advice and Liaison service (iOPAL).
Using quality improvement methodology we have dramatically improved the quality of care for patients living with frailty in our front door frailty services and across the Trust. In 2016 we presented the iOPAL service at the Royal College of Physicians annual conference. In 2018 we have presented our acute frailty model nationally at the British Geriatrics Society and the Frailty First international conference. We have a nationally celebrated service and have been recognised by NHSI for our work. We were a finalist at the HSJ Value Awards in 2018.
This is an exciting time for the Royal Surrey County. We have rapidly developed acute frailty services across our entire pathway gaining national and international recognition for our work. We have worked closely were recently praised by NHSI We are looking to recruit 2 Consultant Geriatricians with an interest in acute frailty to join our front door Acute Frailty Team (AFT).
We are looking for colleagues with broad geriatric medicine expertise to join a department of seven other Consultants. Subspecialty interests are welcome and we would look to accommodate these in to our overarching strategy for older peoples’ care.
There will be other opportunities to lead service development as we look to expand older peoples’ care across the Trust. In order to recruit the right people, within reason, we are willing to tailor a job plan around a successful candidate.
There are so many opportunities at the RSCH currently and we would love to work with enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about high quality care for older people. We have full support from the executive team who are equally committed to developing an excellent standard of patient centred care.
The successful candidates will have CCT or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register for Geriatric medicine when they take up the post (applications are welcome from those within six months of their CCT date).
