We protect and promote the human rights of people with mental illness, learning disabilities, dementia and related conditions. An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our professional, multi-disciplinary team based in central Edinburgh.
The post-holder will influence practice throughout Scotland: overseeing the medical treatment safeguards in the Mental Health and Adults with Incapacity Acts, and playing a key role in our work to promote best practice through visiting, providing guidance and advice, monitoring the use of the Acts and helping shape law reform and local and national policy.
Applicants will have extensive experience in a senior clinical role. They must be a Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists with at least five years’ experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist and up-to-date clinical experience in the last 2 years.
Demonstrable leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence and command the respect of key stakeholders are all prerequisites, coupled with sound analytical, investigation and report writing skills to produce impactful reports and guidance.
Salary is commensurate with that of NHS Consultant Psychiatrists.
