The Simulation Medicine Fellowship is a combined clinical and teaching position, comprising 0.5 FTE in Simulation Medicine at the University of Adelaide Simulation Centre, and 0.5 FTE as a Clinical Medical Practitioner in Emergency Medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. In the clinical role, you will be working in a tertiary Adult Emergency Department, with responsibility for managing the care of all patients in the Department in consultation with the responsible Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. You will also actively contribute to continuous quality improvement and education activities.
The Simulation teaching role is undertaken at the University of Adelaide Simulation Centre, where you will be responsible for assisting and performing training of undergraduate and postgraduate clinicians. In this capacity, you will be expected to undertake a year-long research project with the goal of publication. You will also attend and actively participate in training courses to enable development of SBE skills. During the term of employment, the Simulation Medicine Fellow will work to develop either a simulation education module and/or a specific project relating to simulation medicine.
The Royal Adelaide Hospital is located in Central Adelaide, only 20 minutes from sparkling beaches to the West of the city and the beautiful Adelaide Hills region to the East. Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or an equivalent qualification, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. Demonstrating appropriate postgraduate medical experience and progression through completion of the primary examination, you will possess competency in range of routine and common procedural critical care skills. You will work well both as a team member and individually, displaying genuine empathy for patients and their relatives/families.
