Consultant Hepatobiliary Surgeon
(Full Time – 10+1 PAs)
Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust seeks to appoint a new Consultant Hepatobiliary Surgeon. The Appointee will join the existing team of 3 Consultant Hepatobiliary Surgeons.
The supra-regional Hepatobiliary service based at Aintree enjoys an international reputation in the field of re-sectional surgery for complex benign and malignant hepatobiliary diseases. The Unit serves a catchment area spanning Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man and increasingly receives referrals from further afield. The post will provide 10 programmed sessions per week.
This progressive Unit attracts in excess of 1400 new referrals each year, undertaking in excess of 200 complex hepatobiliary procedures annually. There is a commitment to innovation and the development of multi-modality treatment strategies for patients with hepatobiliary disease. The existing Consultants within the Unit also contribute to the regional services for Neuroendocrine Tumours and Retroperitoneal Sarcomas.
The new Appointee will be expected to provide expertise in the management of all aspects of hepatobiliary disease and will be encouraged to develop sub-speciality interests to complement the existing activity of the Unit. It is also expected that the Appointee will participate in the Consultant General Surgical Emergency On-call Rota, alongside a regional on-call rota for Hepatobiliary emergencies.
Applicants must be appropriately registered and licensed with the General Medical Council and should be within 6 months of attaining CCT or equivalent at the time of the Advisory Appointments Committee.
