We have exciting opportunities for Emergency Physicians looking to work in one of the largest Major Trauma Centres. You will join a friendly and dedicated team of 26 Consultants and a full complement of doctors in training, with 24 hour consultant and middle grade cover. Our Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) service is recognised as one of the best in the country. The department has a strong education and research ethos, and has a large academic and clinical skills area adjacent to it.

The Emergency Department has an attendance of 195,000 new patients each year, including 44,000 children seen in a separate co-located Paediatric Emergency Department. We collaborate with our inpatient specialities to facilitate early access to appropriate care pathways and have close links with Critical Care and Major Trauma. A parallel HCOP service provides assessment of frail elderly patients and minor illnesses are streamed to an adjacent Primary Care Urgent Treatment Centre.

You will be a role model and clinical leader alongside our multi-disciplinary workforce. Your experience, skills and knowledge will be used to think creatively, support others to develop to the best they can be and to be part of the vision to be a world-class centre of excellence. If you are a motivated Emergency Physician, this is the post for you. Appropriate qualifications and experience are outlined in the job description and person specification.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and be on the GMC specialist register, or be within 6 months of attaining specialist registration at the time of interview.

The RCEM have not approved this post due to the 8.5/1.5 job plan arrangement, however the Trust would typically expect every consultant to increase their SPA allocation up to 2.5 as they take on additional responsibilities.
