An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Fellow in Endoscopy at St Mark’s Hospital. The Wolfson Unit for Endoscopy at St Marks is a world renowned state of the art facility for the practice and teaching of endoscopy. It is a tertiary referral and National Training centre, and specialises in complex diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including large polypectomies (EMR, ESD and laparoscopic-endoscopic techniques), double balloon enteroscopy, video capsule endoscopy, endoscopic surveillance of high-risk groups and treatment of radiation proctopathy. The Unit was the first site in London to undertake Bowel Cancer Screening in 2006, covering a population of approx. 1 million, and was one of the first wave pilot sites for Flexible Sigmoidoscopy screening (Bowel Scope), which started in 2013.

The successful applicant would undertake the design and running of several research projects relating to endoscopy, under the supervision of the endoscopy consultants with a view to obtaining a higher degree over a 2-3 year period. The role includes performing 3 endoscopy lists per week with one dedicated endoscopy training session and the opportunity to take part in the emergency endoscopy and gastroenterology on-call rota. The post holder would be in a position to benefit from being exposed to the wide range of advanced endoscopic techniques that are performed at St Marks.
