We are searching for a pro-active and enthusiastic Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our expanding team here on the Isle of Man.

The Island’s healthcare is provided by a National Health Service based on that in the United Kingdom but is independently financed and administered within the Isle of Man.  Many of the changes brought about to the UK National Health Service, as a consequence of the extensive reorganisations of recent years have not been adopted in the Isle of Man.

Noble’s Hospital is situated in the capital of the Island and is equipped to the very latest standards with an Education and Training Centre and library situated in the grounds. The Hospital provides a comprehensive range of services typical of most District General Hospitals.

The DHSC is currently undertaking a root and branch review of the hospital, its services and its pathways in keeping with its 5-year clinical strategy. This promises to be a truly exciting time for the hospital and especially the Emergency department and Prehospital Care. Work streams working toward a rebuild of embrace an acute care hub bringing together the ambulance service emergency medicine and acute medicine are currently underway.

About the post

This is one of two new posts which have been approved to support our vision of delivering the highest quality emergency, urgent and pre-hospital care. We are looking for highly motivated, skilled and compassionate emergency physicians to join us on our journey to become a global leader in the delivery of island based health care. 

The Emergency Department currently sees over 31,500 patients per annum of which approximately 20% are children. Due to the large numbers of motorsport competitions taking place annually, the department often deals with major cases and the hospital is part of the Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma Collaborative as an accredited Trauma Unit.

Candidates seeking their first consultant appointment or looking for an appointment to develop their clinical leadership will be considered. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK.
