Consultant Medical Oncologist, Breast Cancer
Following a recent retirement there is an opportunity to join the breast oncology service with this 10 PA post.
The post holder will be responsible for the oncology management of patients with breast malignancy, with responsibility for systemic treatments. They will work closely with the other medical oncology consultants to provide and develop this growing service.
The breast service at UCLH provides treatment for all local patients with symptomatic and screen detected breast cancer as well as providing a tertiary service. There is active engagement with neighbouring trusts for management of more complex patients and referral for trials, with joint appointments at the Whittington Hospital, North Middlesex Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow. There is an active research trials portfolio encompassing all phases of clinical trials, with a particular emphasis recently on growing the early phase trials portfolio. These trials are undertaken in the NIHR/BRC CRF. The post-holder would be expected to contribute and develop the trials portfolio further. This is an exciting time to be joining this growing service, with recent new consultant appointments in both breast surgery and radiology.
