Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine
It is an exciting time to join the trust and an opportunity to become part of an award winning Emergency Care Service and participate in the trust vision of an integrated partnership working across primary and secondary care. It also has a key link with our nationally recognised initiatives including Acute Hospital @ Home.
The Acute Medicine service is based on Ilchester Integrated Assessment Unit and provides the core functions of Short Stay, Ambulatory Emergency Care (in conjunction with the national AEC network) and Medical Day services. The service also has very close ties with the Trust’s Emergency Department, and this relationship is integral to the Trust’s consistent achievement of the four-hour access standard.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the development of an acute medicine service, which meets the needs of a rapidly growing local population, seven days per week.
The local population is growing fast, especially among older people, so you can expect a substantial and stimulating caseload. In return, we expect you to be a GMC-registered specialist (or with a CCT date within the next six months) and extensive post-membership experience of Acute Medicine.
It is envisaged that the successful applicant will have a 10 PA job including a minimum 1.5 SPA. Additional PAs in a specialist interest may be negotiable depending on the needs of the department and the expertise of the applicant.
Informal discussions regarding this post would be welcomed. For further information please contact Anita Thomas, Divisional Manager for Medicine, on 01305 255506, or Dr Toby Graves, Consultant Physician, on 01305 253375.
