Applications are invited for 2 posts of General Surgeon with an interest in General Surgery and Benign Upper GI Surgery. The posts are based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and are full time. The posts includes a service commitment to Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin such as day case surgery and out-patient clinics. The frequency of the service commitment at Dr Grays Hospital will be agreed in the individual job plan.

Applicants should have wide knowledge of and experience in General Surgery and expertise in advanced Laparoscopic Upper GI Surgery is essential as is evidence of a commitment to quality improvement. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a multidisciplinary team and will play a full part in emergency receiving duties.

As such we require the candidate to be forward thinking in their approach to new technology and its integration into practice. In addition to fixed duties, the posts offers excellent opportunities for both teaching and research.

It is likely that the University of Aberdeen will accord the honorary status of Clinical Senior Lecturer.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).
