The appointment will be on UCL Grade Clinical Senior Lecturer (Consultant). The salary range will be CCA: £78,923 - £105,652 per annum or CL9 £54,207 - £66,550 per annum or STR £35,509 - £51,154 per annum or Junior Doctors: £39,492 - £49,239 per annum , inclusive of London Allowance.
The MRC CTU at UCL and Institute for Global Health (IGH) are seeking to appoint a Clinical Senior Lecturer/Clinical Training Fellow, working 60:40 across both institutes at UCL. At IGH, the post holder will be primarily affiliated to the IGH Centre for Pragmatic Global Health Trials, while at the MRC-CTU the post holder will be based within the infections group.
At the MRC CTU at UCL the post holder will provide leadership for a programme of clinical trials and epidemiological studies in tuberculosis.The post holder will have a lead role in the design, implementation, presentation and reporting of studies, working closely with other senior scientific staff in the Infections Theme. It is expected that their expertise will compliment and value add to the existing and planned repertoire of infectious diseases national/international research undertaken by the Unit, and that over time, they will expand their own portfolio of studies focused on tuberculosis.
At IGH, the post holder will be a senior member of staff within the Centre for Pragmatic Global Health Trials and provide leadership as well as contributing clinical expertise to the conception, design, funding application and conduct of global health trials in tuberculosis. They would be expected to contribute to research leadership and teaching in the implementation of novel strategic and public health approaches to improving health with respect to a wide range of infectious diseases problems of global significance in Low and Middle-Income country (LMIC) settings.
The ideal candidate will be medically qualified and registered with the GMC. Candidates who are yet to complete specialist training in a relevant speciality (e.g. infectious diseases or public health) will be considered provided they have PhD or MD(Res) in infectious diseases/health systems/health policy/public health/epidemiology relevant to Global Health, or evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications.
Depending on their situation, the successful candidate will be appointed to the relevant salary scale.
