Consultants in Respiratory Medicine (3 Posts)
These new substantive posts present an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic department practicing from a newly built, state of the art 800 bed hospital. You will join the existing 8 WTE NHS Consultants providing respiratory care to our population of 500,000 in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
If you are applying for the general respiratory consultant position, please refer to the general respiratory job description and indicate this on your application.
If you are applying for the Pleural respiratory consultant position, please refer to the pleural respiratory job description and indicate this on your application.
We are first and foremost seeking outstanding candidates to join our team. An interest in Pleural Disease, Advanced Bronchoscopy or Lung Cancer would be welcome but is not essential. It should be noted that advanced sleep medicine and care of patients with pulmonary hypertension and cystic fibrosis is led by other hospitals in the region and are not services provided at NBT. We are principally looking for new colleagues with the ambition to help us evolve our models of care to deliver outstanding and personally delivered services to our patients. The departmental requirement is for 3WTE new posts but applications are welcome from those wishing to consider working less than full time.
Research is not a required component of the post but will be encouraged for the right candidate. We have an established academic respiratory research unit supported by 3 WTE research nurses and trial administrators. We are involved in a large number of NIHR multi-centre clinical trials. Candidates wishing to contribute to the expanding research portfolio will be encouraged to develop this aspect of their professional practice.
We already carry out 7 day working in Respiratory Medicine. The advertised posts do not include General Medical On-Call but this may be available if the successful candidate wishes.
Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine and either G(I)M or ITU or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road for on-call purposes. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. The successful candidate will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003. Further details are available from Dr James Calvert, Consultant and Specialty Lead Tel: 0117 414 6340 or Dr Kiaran Flannigan, Clinical Director Tel: 0117 9505050.
