Our Purpose: What We're Here For

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you're part of something very special. We're world leaders in the delivery of integrated health care, and we're always striving to Make It Better. From the carers on the front line working directly with patients and communities, to our talented support teams who enable that care. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region and we're all about putting people at the heart of everything we do.

Our Culture: What Matters To Us

Ko Te Whatu Manawa Tangata
Putting people at the heart of all we do

For us to continue putting our communities at the centre of our health system, we're putting our own people at the centre of everything we do. Because health is ultimately all about people. What's important around here is the way we care for and respect others, the responsibility that all our people take for delivering outcomes, and that we go about our work with integrity in all we do.

What matters to us is doing the right thing, valuing everyone, and being and staying well ourselves so we can care for our community.

The Role: What This Opportunity's All About

An opportunity has arisen for a Gynaecological Oncologist Specialist to take up a fixed-term position commencement date to be negotiated - ideally as soon as possible - until 3rd August 2020 at Christchurch Women's Hospital (CWH). The FTE is negotiable between 0.7 and 1.0 FTE.

Christchurch Women's Hospital is the tertiary Gynaecological Oncology centre for the South Island of New Zealand (population approximately 1.1 million) and provides a comprehensive range of services.

You will need to have completed subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology (FRANZCOG or equivalent and CGO or equivalent) and must be eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand is also required. Relocation expenses are available in line with CDHB relocation policies.

Outside of work, there are many exciting opportunities in Christchurch as the city rebuilds following the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Boarded by beautiful beaches, Banks Peninsula and with the mountains of the Southern Alps less than 100 kilometres away, Christchurch residents enjoy water and snow sports on their doorstep.

If you're looking for an exciting new opportunity and would like to know more about working with us, then please contact us for a confidential discussion.
