Medical editor, BMJ Knowledge Centre

There are two medical editors being recruited as follows:

  • one permanent
  • one 12-month fixed term contract

Both positions are open to part-time or full-time working.

The salary displayed will be pro-rata in the event of part-time working.

BMJ Knowledge Centre has an exciting opportunity for two medical writers/editors to join our team to work on BMJ Best Practice and BMJ Learning, our popular online products for doctors and other healthcare professionals.


The roles involve planning, commissioning, writing and editing complex medical content for a demanding audience of clinicians, both in the UK and globally. You will take ownership for curating a specialist area of our content, liaising with external clinical experts to ensure it is up to date with the latest evidence and guidelines, as well as compelling and digestible for our target audience.


You might be an established medical editor with proven experience of producing practice-changing, evidence-based content for clinicians. Or you could be a clinician yourself who has some writing or editing experience and a hunger to get involved in medical publishing. You will certainly need strong editorial instincts, meticulous attention to detail and a confident approach as well as proven ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.  

You may want to work for us as a permanent member of staff or for a fixed-term one-year secondment from your clinical work. Whichever is the case, we’d love to hear from you. We would also welcome part-time applications. We are particularly keen to hear from practising doctors who would wish to continue their clinical work alongside the role.
