Consultant in Adult Mental Health
This exciting new 10 PA post provides senior medical input for Working Age Adult Community Mental Health Services in Scarborough. The job is split into 3.0 sessions of supporting professional activities (SPA) and 7.0 sessions of direct clinical care (DCC) and it is hoped that the post-holder will be encouraged to use the enhanced SPA provision within this post to engage in research, education or service development in conjunction with local colleagues in order to ensure that this can occur in formal protected time. The appointed consultant will be expected to provide key medical leadership to patients receiving care from the local Assertive Outreach Team (AOT).
We provide a recovery focused specialist mental health service for adults experiencing a severe mental health problem of an acute or remitting nature within the categories of mood, psychotic, neurotic or personality disorders. It may also include those who meet the above criteria and are difficult to engage with, or maintain contact with, mainstream adult mental health service provision. Service users with severe substance misuse and severe mental health problems are managed under the Trust’s, Care and Management of Dual Diagnosis Procedure.
The team covers 12 GP surgeries and the total adult weighted population (aged 18-64) is 53,102. The current Team caseload is of 336 (including those awaiting assessment). The consultant caseload currently stands at 16 patients.
