Work at Wye Valley NHS Trust

The post is a new permanent full-time (12 session) hospital based middle grade position in General Paediatrics and Neonates to expand the current middle grade numbers and increase paediatric input in the emergency department. The postholder will work with the resident Consultants of this District General Hospital to offer a first class service to the population of Herefordshire and surrounding catchment area.

This post offers an applicant with a background in paediatrics the opportunity to develop a key role in the department. The duties of the post include paediatric and neonatal ward work, outpatient clinic duties and sharing with the Consultants the supervision and teaching of junior doctors. The role will include shifts in the emergency department caring for children only and supporting the education of staff in the department. There will be opportunities for in-service training and development of a special interest. Research opportunities may be available. Active participation in clinical governance, clinical audit and continuing professional development is expected to the level required by the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health.

Due to the innovative Consultant delivered model of care the post currently entails no night shifts and also allows for days off during the week. Other duties may in exceptional circumstances be required to maintain a safe high quality service.

Applications are welcome from any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time.
