General Adult Psychiatry – Inpatient

We are looking for two General Adult Consultant Psychiatrists to join our inpatient team at Park House, North Manchester General Hospital within the Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust.

This is an exciting time to join our dedicated teams to support further development of our inpatient mental health services following the development of a new Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to recruit two dedicated full time Consultant Psychiatrists (10 Programmed Activities) to cover two female inpatient units on a6 month fixed term contract initially. There is scope for the allocation of up to 2 additional programmed activities subject to job planning to take into account work intensity, prospective cover and service development needs.
This post will be supported by junior trainees. The wards are a 20 bedded female unit (Poplar) and a 24 bedded female unit (Elm) with a high proportion of patients experiencing psychosis and requiring detention under the mental health act. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be expected to provide clinical leadership in managing the care of the patients.
It is also expected your role would include liaison with other agencies including the Local authority, Child Protection teams and Voluntary Sector Agencies. You will need you have an excellent knowledge of safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children.
