East Lancashire NHS Teaching Hospital Trust invites applications for a consultant histopathologist based at Royal Blackburn Hospital, Blackburn. The laboratory is of modern construction and the Cellular Pathology department is UKAS Accredited.
This is a replacement post and would complete a team of 10.8 consultant histopathologists and one senior clinical fellow providing histopathology and non-gynaecytology services for East Lancashire hospitals and surrounding general practices. The department is warm, friendly, open and supportive and has a professional and friendly working relationship with clinicians through the MDT’s.
The posts are based in the centralized histopathology laboratory at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, Blackburn. The trust serves all specialties expected within a busy district general hospital and in addition provides colon polyp and breast screening services. The Trust is also a tertiary referral centre for urology, head & neck and hepatobiliary cancers. An interest in breast, urology, hepatobiliary and head &neck pathology would be an advantage.
The trust has close ties with local Universities (eg UCLAN, Lancaster), offering the appointee the potential opportunity to be involved in medical student teaching and research.
Applicants should hold the FRCPath or equivalent and be on the Specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
