The Journal of Medical Genetics launched in 1964 and has since become one of the premier journals in genetic medicine. Published monthly, it receives submissions from over 60 countries, and has over 3 million website visits a year. With an Impact Factor of 5.451, Journal of Medical Genetics is a leading international publication and is the official journal of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists.
In addition to high quality research, the Journal of Medical Genetics also offers interactive, case-based learning. The journal publishes multiple choice CME modules that are supported by a number of global accreditation bodies. The modules are rated highly with an 80% completion rate and are designed to help all healthcare professionals to train.
The role: Editor(s)-in-Chief, Journal of Medical Genetics
BMJ is looking for the next Editor-in-Chief who can continue to shape the Journal of Medical Genetics into the premier resource for geneticists; maintaining the Journal's high standard for originality and quality.
The candidate is an active researcher and/or practising clinical geneticist with an awareness of emerging trends in molecular genetics, genetic medicine and applications to clinical practice. They will act as an ambassador; actively promoting and strengthening the journal and upholding the highest ethical standards concerning bioethics and editorial policies.
This is an independent contractor position and the term of office is 5 years. The role will take up one day per week. International and joint applications are welcomed.
