Trust Fellow Doctor in General Medicine
Exciting opportunities have arisen to work within our General Medicine department as a Trust Fellow Doctor (SHO equivalent) here at Yeovil District Hospital Foundation Trust.
We are looking to recruit a Trust Fellow Doctor to expand our General Medicine function. The post holder will be responsible for the admission, clerking and day to day care of their patients on the General Medical wards. This includes patients in the Intensive Therapy Unit, the Coronary Care Unit and any NHS patients they may have in the private wing of our hospital.
The post holders will rotate across various sub specialties of medicine, including Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Elderly Care, and Respiratory. You will be required to participate on the General Internal Medicine on call rota.
Although these posts are not recognised for training, they are afforded the same opportunities as our training posts, with access to in-house training and you will be encouraged to attend the weekly academic teaching programme. You will be fully supported by a Clinical Supervisor. A high number of our trust fellow doctors have accessed a national training post having undertaken at least a year in this role with us.
Yeovil District Hospital has enjoyed a stable and successful history; trusted and respected by our patients, staff and commissioners and well-rated by the ‘Care Quality Commission’ and ‘Monitor’. We have been repeatedly rated as one of the top-10 healthcare employers in the country, a leading-light in global stroke research and development, and attracted national interest in our iCARE model, which has established the principles of exemplary patient care experience within our Hospital.
Yeovil District Hospital has recently been awarded ‘Vanguard’ status following a successful joint bid with NHS England. Being a ‘Vanguard’ site identifies us as one of the most innovative trusts in the country and gives us unique access to national support and funding to realise our exciting plans.
