This brand new year-long bespoke specialist clinical fellowship post has been crafted to provide a practical introduction to remote and global anaesthesia.

It is the perfect opportunity for those interested to gain invaluable experience in global anaesthesia and advance their portfolios in preparation for future ventures.

Based at Hereford County Hospital, the successful candidate will be immersed in a year-long programme in which their base speciality will be anaesthesia. Training will include regular immersive in-situ simulations, teaching sessions and practical clinical work which includes focus on adapting practice to resource limited environments and familiarisation with some of the equipment used in such places.

In addition to general experience, the candidates must be able to facilitate out of hours obstetric anaesthesia.

Hereford County Hospital has a partnership link with St Augustine’s Hospital in Tanzania. The candidate will be actively involved in projects to support safe surgery in our partner hospital, as well as opportunities for visits to provide training for staff there.The candidate will be encouraged and mentored to gain a wide breadth of knowledge, skills and understanding.

At the end of the fellowship, the candidate will be awarded a certificate of the fellowship and will have a unique portfolio of competencies!
