Dorset is in the process of a major reconfiguration of Hospital services with Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) being chosen be developed into the main Emergency Centre for the Region.

Dorset CC announced the outcome of a fundamental Clinical Services Review, which recommended the RBH as the Major Emergency Hospital for East Dorset, which would incorporate trauma, paediatrics and other services onto the same site with a significantly larger purpose-built Emergency Department.

This represents an incredibly exciting opportunity to be directly involved in the design and planning of a new Emergency Department providing high quality Emergency care for the whole of Dorset for years to come.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed colleagues to join our dynamic team to help develop and deliver a first class emergency service for Bournemouth.

These are new posts based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The department is currently staffed by 10.4 WTE Consultant Emergency Physicians. There are 12 middle grade posts, one SpR shared with Poole, and 16 F2GPVTs/Trust posts.

We offer flexible bespoke job plans including those working less than full time. We understand the importance of sustainable working and are able to offer a highly attractive package for successful applicants.

Our current Consultants have specialist interests in Paediatrics, Sports Medicine, Ultrasound, ED Critical Care and Pre-hospital Care. Once in post applicants will be encouraged to further develop their special interests.

Vascular surgery, general surgery, ophthalmology, interventional radiology, cold orthopaedics and the cardiac intervention unit are all on site.

We also have an excellent ITU and award winning medical specialties. Inpatient Paediatrics and Trauma beds are located at Poole Hospital eight miles away with Southampton being the Major Trauma Centre.

Applicants must be on the GMC’s specialist register or within six months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent.
