Applications are invited for the position Consultant in Immunology (full time) at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The East Yorkshire Regional Adult Immunology and Allergy Unit currently provides a comprehensive clinical service for a population of around 800,000. The department is well established and is actively involved in national and international studies. The department has strong links with the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). The medical students attend the clinics and laboratory during their SSC sessions.
The clinical unit is based in the Queen’s Centre at the Castle Hill Hospital site and provides Adult Immunology and Allergy services. The outpatient area has three consulting rooms and a day treatment area for immunoglobulin infusions, allergy food and drug challenges, and immunotherapy sessions. There are currently nine consultant-led clinical sessions and one nurse-led allergy assessment session per week. In-patient admissions are within the Queen’s Centre and the post holder would be expected to share in the cover and care for these patients.
It is anticipated that the service will develop into a network led model in the near future with all of the medical team working together to provide a high-quality equitable service across the region.
There is a close working relationship between the Immunology and Allergy services in NLAG and those delivered in Hull and East Yorkshire. The post holder would hold an honorary contract with NLAG that includes governance and indemnity for work carried out. This involves reciprocal outpatient work and cross cover when needed. There is close working relationship between the two laboratory services but no contractual commitment in this area.
Applicants must have MRCP or equivalent, FRCPath in Immunology or equivalent. Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
The Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from two hospital sites with some specialised services aimed at an extended catchment area of 1.2 million people. The Trust now forms part of the Hull York Medical School with both the NHS Trusts and Universities of Hull and York. With an annual budget of circa £500m and employing over 8,500 staff, we are committed to the continuous development of services for the benefit of patients and to providing a comprehensive service of the highest possible quality.
