Consultant in Haematology Replacement post
Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals is the regional teaching hospital, providing general acute services to Brighton and Hove and Mid Sussex and tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the south east of England. Working as one hospital across two sites in Brighton and Haywards Heath, we treat over half a million patients a year.
This appointment is for a full time consultant haematologist. This is a replacement post which will be available from September 2018. The job plan will incorporate sessions at both sites (Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath). You will join a team of 4 full time consultants, a senior lecturer and a part time consultant, and will participate in the 1:6 on call rota. A subspecialist interest in myeloid disorders would be encouraged, and there would be an opportunity to develop this aspect of the service. All inpatients are treated on the 10 bedded haematology ward based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital up to level 3 BCSH 2009 guidelines. The team also includes two specialist registrars, a core medical trainee, and an F1 trainee, in addition to three clinical nurse specialists.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an enthusiastic and forward thinking team, which has seen significant expansion of the service in the last few years, in a highly desirable area of the country. The hospital is also currently undergoing major rebuilding, which will result in a significant expansion of both our inpatient and outpatient facilities.
