Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology
Applications are invited for the above post of Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology based at Worthing Hospital, part of the Western Sussex NHS Foundation Trust with effect from 1 August 2018.
There are 2 full time Consultants at St Richard's and this post is for a second full time Consultant at Worthing Hospital. The clinical workload is split roughly 50:50 between inpatient General Medicine and outpatient Diabetes with Endocrinology. We are looking for a Consultant to help develop the service further and encourage applicants to discuss this directly with the substantive team with sub-speciality interests in ante-natal care, insulin pump treatment and transition from paediatric to adult diabetes services.
The Department Of Diabetes and Endocrinology is a fully integrated consultant and Diabetes specialist nursing service to encourage good shared practice across both sites with strong governance processes and shared pathways.
Both departments have a keen interest in training and education.

We are an acute trust with three hospitals; St Richard’s in Chichester and Worthing Hospital, where we provide emergency and inpatient care; and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham, where we provide out-patient care and day surgery. Our hospitals are all situated along the beautiful Sussex coast, nestled against the South Downs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to London and Europe.
All newly appointed Consultants are mentored, via the “WSHFT Mentorship scheme for senior medical staff”.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining Specialist Registration at the time of interview. Applications from candidates who, for personal reasons, are unable to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for this post.
