We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to the position of Consultant Gastroenterologist at Worthing Hospital, Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post has arisen due to the forthcoming retirement of a senior colleague. You will join a team of six remaining consultants and contribute to the ongoing development of specialist contemporary gastroenterological services for the West Sussex population.
If you share our vision, and value the opportunity to live and work in the vicinity of the beautiful South Downs national park then please read on.
Rated as ‘outstanding’ by the CQC, Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is formed by the amalgamation of the highly performing Worthing & Southlands Hospitals NHS Trust and St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester; providing healthcare for nearly 500,000 people.
We are a forward looking and innovative trust whose purpose is to provide high quality emergency and elective care for the people of West Sussex.
A variety of opportunities are available for a candidate to develop a subspecialty interest complementary to the existing department and this can be explored further during pre-application enquiries.
As a priority the existing department place great emphasis on the ability of an individual to work closely as part of a cohesive team and share ongoing service developments for the benefit of the whole.
Across both hospital sites the broader Gastroenterology department delivers a GI bleeding and acute Gastroenterology on call service at the weekend with no general internal medicine duties. Weekday on call is single site coverage.
In-patient Gastroenterology care at Worthing is delivered by a ‘duty consultant’ system currently comprising a two week dedicated commitment on a rotating basis shared between all consultants. The appointed consultant will be required to join both of these rotas. Further information can be found in the full job description or by pre-application enquiry.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining Specialist Registration at the time of interview. Applications from candidates who, for personal reasons, are unable to work full time will be eligible to be considered for this post.
