Consultant in Anaesthesia & Pain Management & Lead for Acute Pain
Consultant in Anaesthesia & Pain Management & Lead for Acute Pain Brighton is a vibrant and thriving multi-cultural coastal city in the south of England that is surrounded to the North and East by the beautiful South Downs. Haywards Heath is an area of natural beauty with good schools and transport links to London. Haywards Heath is 36 miles south of London (45 minutes by train), 13 miles south of Gatwick Airport and 14 miles north of Brighton.
Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals (BSUH) is the regional teaching hospital, providing general acute services to Brighton and Hove and Mid Sussex and tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the south east of England. Working as one hospital across two sites in Brighton and Haywards Heath, we treat over half a million patients a year.
We are looking for an individual who is an outstanding clinician and leader. There are many opportunities provided by working in an acute teaching hospital with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, teaching and research, and high quality patient experience. In return we expect our Consultants to lead by example and use every opportunity to help us improve what we do and strengthen our reputation.
Further this is an exciting time for pain provision in Sussex. Currently BSUH’s Pain service is currently split into two services: acute and chronic within the Surgery division. However, the pain service is currently engaged in a change programme with community and commissioner partners to remodel into a single regional hub for community and secondary care services. As a regional hub BSUH will be looking to increase procedures and support its MDT in research. Consequently we are looking for individuals who will lead the MDT and support them in driving through the changes needed to realise this ambition.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
