Our new Northern Care Alliance NHS Group unites five local hospitals to deliver high quality care across the North East of Greater Manchester.

Applicants are invited to apply for 3.5 permanent Consultant posts to add to a rapidly modernising and expanding department. The main remit of the posts is to provide and develop comprehensive, excellent and innovative subspeciality services. There is a good opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the service at a time of growth and change working in a multi-disciplinary team to improve outcomes for patients.
The posts include 1.5 replacements and 2 new appointments to establish a 7.5 WTE Consultant workforce. The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit, the Trust benefits from close University links.
The appointee will contribute to the general Ophthalmology service with outpatient clinics held across multiple sites and undertake surgery in two dedicated eye theatres situated on the Rochdale Infirmary site.
Participation in a 1:8 on call rota is essential.
You will join an active and enthusiastic team of Ophthalmologists, Specialist Nurses, Advanced Practitioners, Technicians and Orthoptists all providing care in the fields of Medical Retina, Oculoplastics, Lacrimal, Cornea, Glaucoma, and Paediatric Ophthalmology.
Applicants must already be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training. As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced police criminal records disclosure will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application.
