Consultant in Respiratory Medicine
Applicants are invited to apply for a new post within the department of Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation.
We are expanding our Consultant workforce, developing sub-specialty services and evolving our integrated model of care. The post will include General Medicine on-call duties (1:18 rota).
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic colleague with broad respiratory medicine expertise, to join the team and develop sub-speciality services – in particular - an Interstitial Lung Disease service, or development of the Respiratory Infections (including TB) service. Candidates with other sub- specialities expertise are welcome to apply.
The successful candidates will have CCT or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register for Respiratory medicine when they take up the post (applications are welcome from those within six months of their CCT date).
The Respiratory Medicine department delivers general and specialist respiratory services for the local population. It has a 28 bedded respiratory ward with dedicated NIV beds. The department provides specialist services in Sleep medicine (in conjunction with the University of Surrey), Asthma, Pleural disease and Lung cancer. The Royal Surrey County Hospital hosts St Luke’s, a regional referral centre for Oncology, serving a population of 1.5 million. We have an Integrated Respiratory Multidisciplinary team (including specialist nurses and physiotherapists) working across the community and primary and secondary care.
The hospital has close ties to the University of Surrey, including several academic departments. The Trust runs teaching programs and clinical attachments for Medical students from Southampton University and St Georges Hospital as well as Physician Associate students from the University of Surrey. Research and Development are actively supported in the Trust.
Surrey has a wide range of leisure facilities, including theatres, picturesque shopping centres and outstanding countryside as well as excellent state and private schools. There are fast transport links to London.
