Lead Consultant in AMU
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust are transforming the delivery of Acute Care in Tunbridge Wells and are seeking a lead Consultant to be part of the dynamic and innovative clinical team leading the transformation. The successful applicant will lead the development of Ambulatory Care services and develop efficient care provision with the patient at the centre of care delivery. Working with medical colleagues, nursing and management teams will be essential when developing these new services.
You will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of acute medicine working in our state of the art hospital in Tunbridge Wells. Located at Pembury it is the first NHS Hospital in England to provide en-suite, single rooms to patients, and provides a range of complex and routine surgical and medical care.
The Trust has invested significantly in the development of a new acute ambulatory model of care and frailty service including the building of a brand new 30-bedded and 8 assessment spaces acute medical unit with 9 bays of 4 patients’ each, which opened in March 2016.
The standard job plan is 10 PAs including 2 SPAs with an opportunity for up to 2 additional special interest clinics as mutually agreed. There will be PAs allocated for leadership time to develop services.
Tunbridge Wells Hospital is located within a short distance of the town centre, which offers a range of amenities including shops, bars and restaurants and is on the doorstep of some of Kent’s most beautiful countryside – the best of both worlds! There are fantastic travel links in Kent with key motorways such as the M2 and M20 and with excellent accessibility to both London and the continent by train.
In West Kent there are many highperforming schools ranging from pre-school and primary to secondary school education, including grammar schools, special needs schools and some of the top private education institutions in the country.
