An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit keen locum Specialty Doctors to join our Emergency Department team for a period ranging from 2 to 6 months duration.

We are a consultant-lead unit seeing 74,000 new patients per year with 24 hour senior cover provided by ST4-6 trainees or consultants. We receive paediatric patients from all of Ayrshire giving an enviable breadth of experience to the clinician wishing to treat all patient ages. We have full time on-site diagnostic support good support by our Intensive Care colleagues and now benefit from the recently opened Combined Assessment Unit bringing front door Acute Medicine capability to Crosshouse.

The Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Specialty Doctor Grade (Scotland) 2008 and post are offered on a 10 programmed activity basis. Details of the specialty doctor contract can be found on the SHOW web site: www.sehd.scot.nhs.uk/ Circular PCS (DD) 2008/7.

Applications from individuals who may wish to work on a part time or job share basis will be considered.

Opportunities may exist for Additional Programmed Activities subject to service requirements. Successful applicants must have Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice and have completed at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training of which at least 2 years will have been relevant to Emergency Medicine.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is a condition of this post and successful applicants will require to join the scheme prior to appointment.
