Royal London Hospital

We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant to join a committed team of
geriatricians and participate in the development of new patient pathways,
delivering excellent care to older people in East London. This post is based
at the Royal London Hospital.

The service is rapidly developing, with recent increases in consultant
numbers supporting the implementation of a surgical liaison / POPS service
and a rapid access frailty service, which is being set up conjunction with the
local mental health trust. The Trust is part of a multi-speciality community
services Vanguard (Tower Hamlets Together), which provides many
opportunities to develop innovative models of care across the health and
social care system.

There is also the potential for development of new models of care internally,
as the hospital has one of the busiest emergency departments in the country, together with a hyper acute stroke unit, and the internationally renowned Major Trauma Centre. We are particularly keen to extend our Interface Geriatrics and ‘front door frailty’ services; and to grow liaison services into areas such as Neurosurgery at the Royal London and Cancer and Cardiothoracic services at St Bartholomew’s.

The Royal London has excellent links with Queen Mary University and the
department has a strong educational focus, with opportunities for teaching
medical students of all levels and to be involved in innovative projects
around medical education.

The job plan consists of 10 Programmed Activities per week and you will
participate in an on-call rota. Details of the job plan are included in the
application pack.

Candidates who wish to work part-time are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have GMC registration with a licence to practice and have
MRCP or equivalent and be able to demonstrate a suitable background
and experience in managing all aspects of elderly care, evidenced by CCT
(or within 6 months of expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time
of interview).
