Applications are invited to join a friendly and progressive Paediatric Emergency Medical team as a consultant with Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals NHS Trust. Paediatric Emergency Department forms part of a dedicated children’s floor at Ormskirk District General.
The Trusts adult Emergency Department is at Southport District General.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate good clinical and communication skills delivered with compassion. In return you will be supported and valued for the skills and knowledge you bring to the team working alongside an enthusiastic and forward thinking Clinical Director and consultant team, a highly skilled and supportive nursing team and dedicated management and administrative support.
The post is for 2.5 PAs per week and the successful candidate with contribute to a rota covering 0800-0000 7 days per week.
The Paediatric Emergency Medical unit is supported by a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Medical consultants, additional consultant support from the general Emergency Medical consultant team. Senior Emergency Medical trainees and specialty doctors from the adult department also contribute to the rota. There is no on-call or night duty.
The Trust provides a range of local hospital services across its two main sites at Southport and Ormskirk including Supra Regional Spinal Injuries Unit. The Trust is proud to have been awarded University Clinical Education Centre by the University of Liverpool in recognition of the high standards of training provided for students on placements with the Trust.
Paediatric services are based at Ormskirk District General Hospital in a newly built Paediatric Department. The Department comprises a dedicated Children’s Accident & Emergency Department with an Assessment Bay, in-patient ward and a day case unit including facilities for adolescent, and a designated modern Paediatric Outpatient Department at Ormskirk Hospital, delivering a range of general and specialty clinics.
All applicants must be either on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining their CCT award at the time of interview. The posts are due to commence with the Trust as soon as possible.
