Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Radiology. This post is a whole-time replacement post to lead the paediatric radiology services of the Royal Brompton (paediatric respiratory medicine, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and intensive care.
The post holder will be the trust lead for congenital heart disease radiology.
The post holder will also support paediatric respiratory medicine service through a lead role in the weekly paediatric respiratory MDT meetings and through daily reviews of imaging from national and international referrals for childhood interstitial lung diseases and other unusual pathologies.
Furthermore, the post will support the cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery departments through protocolling and reporting paediatric and adult cardiovascular CT examinations, ranging from neonatal coronary imaging to post treatment re-assessment after complex congenital heart surgery in children and adults.
Regular cardiology MDT meetings are a routine part of service provision, integrating the results of a range of imaging tests into patient care, especially cardiac CT studdies that are performed on a daily basis.
The post holder will also be responsible for the provision and supervision of general paediatric imaging, including paediatric intensive care imaging. There is a particular need for on-going specialist cranial ultrasound provision for our paediatric cardiac and ECMO patients and for support of regular paediatric intensive care radiology meetings.
The post holder will be able to support adult thoracic, cardiovascular and general CT. An interest in acute neuroimaging would be an advantage. Provision of basic thoracic intervention is also required (chest drain insertion and biopsy provision).
Applicants are required to be fully registered Medical Practitioners and must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the Register within six months from date of interview for the post.
