Consultant in Palliative Medicine

Saint Francis Hospice is an established hospice with an excellent reputation for specialist palliative and end of life care. BHRUT is the local hospital trust, consisting of Queens Hospital in Romford (4 miles away) and King George Hospital in Ilford (6 miles away).
The Trust has regional neuroscience and cancer centre status. It is highly committed to improving end of life care. The hospice and hospitals cover a catchment of around 810,000 residents, from densely urban outer East London to rural Essex. Excellent partnerships exist between hospice, hospital and community to expand the reach and impact of palliative care, with education an absolute priority. The hospice is in an excellent location, close to Central London, with super local amenities including schools.
We are seeking a Palliative Medicine Consultant. The Consultant will be hospice based, with focus on hospice inpatient care and community advice and support. There is flexibility within the job description to develop the job plan according to the successful candidate’s areas of interest.
The post is NHS contracted, hosted at BHRUT with secondment to Saint Francis Hospice.
The postholder will work directly with 2 Consultants, specialty doctors, a Palliative Medicine trainee, VTS trainees and a great multi-professional team at the hospice, and will work closely with the BHRUT hospital palliative care team of 4 Consultants, an Associate Specialist, CNSs, End of Life Care facilitators and AHPs to develop specialist palliative support, education and delivery regionally.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration and be on the Palliative Medicine Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT date at interview. Although the post is full time, applications for part time or flexible hours are welcome.
